... with a 12-0 win against Crothersville; 4-3 win at Milan; 13-4 win at Southwestern Shelby
Looking at the Hauser schedule I see that Columbus East is no longer playing the Jets. I'm assuming the gym isn't big enough to safely accommodate playing them... Wait a minute- baseball is played outdoors. Oops
Hauser should get a pretty good test in a double-header with Brownstown Monday 4/11.
The Shelbyville paper has Hauser ranked #10 in 1A.

Sounds like Hauser sports is having a good year so far, good luck to them the rest of the season.

The Hauser Jets have several of the Basketball players on the team . Sr. Jake Miller plays the outfield his brother soph Gabe plays first and Jr. Aryn Ross is their best pitcher and Kevin Raisor and Jordan Perkins are starters. All played on the Varsity Basketball team who went to the final 4 in 1a. Jared Turner is the catcher and he's hitting better than 700 so far. and freshman Nick Long is good player too and he was a reserve on the varsity. The Jets are ready to go far in Baseball again this year.

Mojo- no problem, but it is the respect that I have for your sports programs now, since I have seen how good of sportsmanship your players and your fans had at sem-state.

Thanks again, Hatchet. It takes a little of the sting off the loss, knowing that the school was not only well-represented with class by the Jet players and fans but people that hadn't otherwise heard of Hauser were able to recognize it.
The Hatchet fans (there might very well have been 5000+ of them by the time the Roncalli game got underway) were incredible. I wish I could give an assessment of the Washington team- I left my seat after the first game and came back in about 20 minutes before the game, only to find there was no seating at all.
... And to top it off there was some wide-bodied 6-5 or so guy from Loogootee (seemed to be a coach) that was standing in the corner of the bleachers and made it impossible to see around. (I briefly thought about asking him to kindly move to the side-LOL) I finally gave up and tried standing between the end and side bleachers on the main floor and the people standing were rows deep there too. I figure there could have easily been 9000 people in this gym that's supposed to seat a little over 8000.

I sure hope Hauser has some depth in their pitching staff, or some heavy-hitting bats to compensate. Not only do they play two with Brownstown this afternoon, they play Madison Shawe tomorrow, at Triton Central Thursday and two more at Indy Lutheran on Saturday (six games in six days).
I've got the doubleheader at Lawrenceburg on Saturday 4/23 marked on my calendar. Hopefully I'll be able to make the drive over to see it.

The Republic headlines (they don't give access to the actual article) says that Brownstown beat 1A #6 for their first loss- no score given.
No mention that it was a doubleheader like it shows on the Hauser athletics website (seems odd that it would really be a DH starting at 4:45).

Mojo: I don't know why they had on the schedule that it was a DH. Hauser lost 7-4 in 5 innnings . It was called because of darkness. I don't understand why it started at 4:45. The Jets gave up 6 runs in the 2nd. Soph Lawson was the loser.. I don't uderstand why Jr. Jared Turner isn't pitching this year? He was good last year in the rotation but this year he's catching all the time. Turner is still hitting close to 700.

Hauser may not have a backup catcher ready to share the duties with Turner. I know there was talk of Long doing some catching but with Turner (also an excellent shortstop by all counts I've heard) pitching, who's going to short? Not only that- with Long being only a freshman, that's a tough gig (not that shortstop isn't) for somebody with only a few games of varsity experience.

Turner did pitch a couple of innings against Brownstown as I noticed in the paper. Nick Long the freshamn pitched a 1 hitter against Madison Shawe Tuesday night as the Jets beat them 14-1 in 5 innings. Looks like Shawe is really down they usually field good teams. I don't really know who the backup catcher is.

From the Shelbyville paper:
Hauser falls to 4-2 by losing to Triton Central 9-2. While TC is only 4-4 they're a strong team. They won state in 2A two years ago with their two star pitchers, Wynn and Broughton, both being sophomores (now seniors) at the time.
Turner had a homer but the Jets had only one other hit.

Hauser has a pretty nice facility but no lights. Just in back of the varsity field is a set (x3?) of excellent little league fields that does have lights.

Hauser split a doubleheader with Indy Lutheran Saturday and now has a 5-3 record. Next up is a tough game with 6-1 Greensburg today. Here is an Indiana HS baseball link that I wasn't aware of until just now: www.ihsbca.org/polls.aspYou can see polls for each class and in some cases a little bit of information on the teams.
