Ft. Wayne Blackhawk 7 Hauser 0 The Jets can't get the bats going against Nussbaum of Blackhawk. Jake Miller of Hauser won the mental attitute award
Hauser had a great year and will have all but 2 players back and all the pitchers back.
Congratulations Jets on a Great season!

I was able to make it over to Lafayette after all. It was a much better game than the 7-0 score indicated. Hauser was down 2-0 going in to the bottom of the sixth when Ross finally ran out of gas. Blackhawk got five in the sixth to put the game away.
Ross is a real trooper. They say he's going in for arm surgery to repair a tendon- I'm guessing it will be real soon and he'll try to get back in time for basketball season.
It must have been the third inning when Hauser blew their best chance of scoring. After a Ross (I believe) double, the Jets had runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out.
Hauser played a good game but they definitely had problems hitting Nussbaum. Blackhawk is a nice ball club and a deserving champ.
I thought the highlights of the game for the Jets was right fielder Bryant's three strong throws. With the score still at 2-0 he threw out the leadoff man of the inning at 2nd. On a play you don't see everyday, FWB blooped a bases loaded single right in front of him (with less than two outs) and he threw a bullet to the plate to force the guy out. Earlier he had made an excellent throw to the plate to beat the runner but apparently the tag wasn't able to be made.

Would Blackhawk by any chance be a private school?

Of the 8 class A Baseball championships 4 are private schools. Blackhawk is a private school and has won 2 baseball championships LCC has win 1 and Park Tudor 1.
The private schools are dominating 1a team sports! What can be done about it?

It's called class sports, if you can get good players to come to your school, you can win a 1A state championship. It will be by far the worse in 1A. True it's not fair to the small school programs who have worked hard with their kids for years, but thats the way it is. Class sports now makes it fair for everyone, "Yeah Right "

Class sports strikes home! Of course private schools will dominate in the lower classes. I'm surprised the private schools do not win the 1A and 2A championships in all classed sports each year .... they have no constraints on the geographic area from which they can recruit students (read athletes) ... usually two or three counties (although they will deny they recruit) ... and ... the private schools can artificially limit the size of the student population so they can dictate in which class they compete. Definitely puts small public schools at a disadvantage. Best alternative ... put all private schools in a separate class or make private schools play up two classes.

...and the first, obvious choice....would be in football.....until the IHSAA bumps up the private schools one class in football (as they do in Ohio, I believe)..it will not occur in the other sports.
Watch football.......it must happen here, first.
