Yesterday's performance is well worth starting a new thread. Congrats to the Jets' players, coaches and fans for pulling out two tough semistate games yesterday at Avon. It's incredible how much composure this young team has shown. After seeing the Hauser fan support at the Oldenburg regional game, I can only imagine how loud they must have been yesterday. I found this article about a recent Blackhawk game to get an idea of what the Jets will be up against. It appears that Nussbaum will be a handful, at the plate and on the mound... Congratulations to the Hauser Jets and coaches and fans. It's looks like the Jets have more determination than I thought. I thought they would be a great team next year but the guts and determination of this team is what they needed to get over the hump that other Hauser teams just couldn't get it done in the past. This team only has 2 seniors so they are very young. Thanks to coch Jerry Schoen for making Hauser Baseball a power in 1a. He has put many hours of his own time getting the Jets Baseball field in great shape and being able to host a sectional the last few years.. The Jets are for real and should make a good game of it.
I wonder if the Nussbaum boy from Ft.Wayne Blackhawke is related to the Nussbaum family from Columbus. Jack Nussbaum the ticket manager at Columbus North. He had several boys I remember their names was Matt and Andy and they all where good athletes . Back the Black Good luck Jets!

Could be. There is a Nussbaum family in Hope also (or at least there was a few years ago). *** later edit- they were Nussmeiers.
Do you have any more details on the Shakamak or North Daviess game, Dale? You say the Jets came back from being down 3-0 going in to the sixth against Shakamak. How did they get their runs?
I'll second the sentiments about Hauser Coach Schoen. He's doing a heckuva job over there.

In the Shakamak game the Jets scored 2 in the 6th. Perkins singled then Jared Turner followed with a double that got by the centerfielder and Perkins hard slide into home and was safe at home. The catcher was blocking the plate and hurt his knee and had to be carried off. Aryn Ross doubled and Turner scored. In the 7th Jaker Miller led off and was hit by a pitch then stole 2nd and went to 3rd on an error. Raisor drew a walk and then a walk to Gabe Miller a strike out and then a passed ball and Jake Miller scored and Raisor to 3rd and Gabe Miller to 2nd. The Jets loaded the base on another walk an Jared Turner hit a hard bouner to 3rd and was thrown out and Raisor scored the go ahead run. GO JET Lets win one for all the Hauser teams that have come up short!!!

Thanks for the report. Did Ross go the distance in the first game and did Lawson pitch all of the second one?

Here is an excellent shot of Perkins sliding into home on the play that the catcher got hurt on. Link: therepublic.com/main.asp?SectionID=286/14 edit: Hope you have a happy bday, Dale (and an even better Friday).

Sure would love to be there Friday. It looks like an excellent facility. Unless something happens with my schedule between now and then it's not going to be possible... bummer- Hauser makes it to the state championship game and I'll be hung up in Louisville, four hours away. Mojo: Thanks for the b-day wish. The way it looks The ihsaa will have a live score and play by play on their web site. It's been done the last few years so I''m sure it will be done again. I don't know if any radio station will broadcast the game. Just log on the ihsaa web site and we can be updated almost as the game is played.. My heallth isn't good enough to travel that far but at least we can have updates almost live! Good Luck Jets!!!

I would like to wish Dale52 a happy Bday, and also wish Hauser good luck in State. It must be great to have so many different sports to cheer about. A lot of Loogootee's sports won sectionals, but they just couldn't get past regional.

Much appreciated, Lhs.
... It wouldn't surprise me to hear that half the town of Hope makes the long trek to Lafayette.

Sounds about like Loogootee at Indy. I'd say half the town was at Embassy Suites. Lol.

Thanks Lh05 Hauser has been a long time waiting for this success in any sport. This is the best group of kids Hauser has ever had and I'm sure the success will continue for a few more years.
