4A 1. Lake Central (state champ) 2. Center Grove (state runner-up) 3. DeKalb 4. Brownsburg 5. Noblesville 5. Hamilton SE 7. McCutcheon 8. Chesterton 8. Concord 10. Martinsville 3A 1. Andrean 2. Boonville 3. Gibson Southern (2 cons. State Finals appearances) 4. Pendleton Heights 5. New Palestine (state champ) 6. Blackford 7. Ev. Memorial 8. Mish. Marian 9. West Lafayette (state runner-up) 10. Mt. Vernon (H) *-the sectional with PH, MV and NP will, once again, be phenomenal. In the last five years, the schools have something like six State Finals appearances and two titles between them (PH was in a different class until the four-class realignment last year). 2A 1. Hanover Central (state champ, if they still have Wendlinger pitching, they'll be hard to beat). 2. Eastern Greene 3. Eastside 4. I. Scecina (another team with *very* solid pitching) 5. Clarksville 6. Forest Park 7. Cass 8. Bremen 9. Rochester 10. Delphi A 1. I. Lutheran (state champ) 2. Tecumseh 3. Clinton Prairie 3. Pioneer 5. Whiting 6. Riverton Parke (Parke County usually has some good teams) 7. Dugger (state runner-up) 8. Loogootee 9. S. Central (LP) 10. Hauser (wow ... this program has come a long way in a very short time ... I can remember going to a sectional game just a couple of years ago where Hauser looked like it was going through the struggles of a brand-new program. That, obviously, turned pretty quickly).

Not sure that the Titans of Gibson Southern will stay top 5 all year, but they will be tough. Good news is, I beleive they only have two seniors on the roster. Both key players, but they will return a strong team nest year as well.
Boonville is always a team to be concerned about in 3A as well. In 4A, Castle is usaually tough, I suspect the polls will include the Knights at some point.
1A Tecumseh is usually good as well, but will need for Jessie Oxley to recover both physically and mentally from her ACL surgery.

Hard to believe Eastern Howard wasn't ranked in 2A! They return one of the best pitchers in breanne Howell, and were 1 out away from going back to state, after winning it all in 03.

The rankings are often puzzling at times ... I expected the 3A poll to be: 1. New Pal 2/3. Gibson Southern/West Lafayette But that's why the only poll that really matters comes in June . That said, I'm wondering if Eastern Greene is really supposed to be Eastern (Howard). I've seen the Easterns (especially Greene, Howard and Hancock) get confused before.

It was Eastern of Howard, but they were listed as Eastern of Greentown which is where the school is located. The kokomo tribune said today that they have moved to #1.

... 10. Hauser (wow ... this program has come a long way in a very short time ... I can remember going to a sectional game just a couple of years ago where Hauser looked like it was going through the struggles of a brand-new program. That, obviously, turned pretty quickly). Indeed. Last year's success was rather unpredictable to many. The team came out of nowhere and had an excellent season. Freshman pitcher Audrey Wilkerson was pretty dominant and this year it looks like she is picking up where she left off. Monday, Hauser beat Morristown 5-0 with Wilkerson throwing a one-hitter and the Jets getting 12 hits. The only other game I'm aware of that Hauser has played this year is a game that Hauser defeated South Decatur 4-1.

From the Shelbyville paper:
Hauser lost to Shelbyville 6-3. Shelbyville is 4-1, Hauser's record didn't show but they said they were #12 in 1A.
Hauser leaves 10 runners on base while Shelbyville left only 5. Wilkerson took the loss.
